As finance professionals in the voluntary sector you know that Accountability and Transparency, Social Reporting and Impact are hot topics – and that collectively these issues are of increasing importance to your charity’s stakeholders.

This year the conference provides an excellent opportunity to explore these issues and gain insight and guidance on how to approach them, and maximise stakeholder relationships.

The conference opens with a keynote speech from Dr Daleep Mukarji from Christian Aid. Christian Aid recognised the importance of stakeholder relationships in the current climate, and Dr Mukarji will share with delegates the work they did to develop and manage those relationships. The main conference stream continues with sessions on impact reporting, measuring social impact, trends in sustainability reporting and how to get started with an environmental policy. This is supported at lunchtime with our second keynote speech from Michael Hammer of One World Trust which will look at how charities can strengthen their accountability to their stakeholders.

There are of course many strings to today’s finance professional’s bow and this is reflected in the topics and speakers that make up the five streams of the conference programme. Streams include Developing the Finance Department, Current Issues and managing the resource areas that often come under our remit – IT, HR, Property and Legal Services. Finally there is the ever popular update stream which this year looks at new legal requirements, public benefit, the SORP and revisions to Audit Practice Note 11.

During the breaks you will be able to browse the over thirty exhibition stands and during lunch law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner are offering a one-to-one surgery on public benefit.

The day ends with our third keynote speech. Stuart Etherington the Chief Executive of NCVO will look across the broad sweep of the voluntary movement and share his thoughts on the current challenges and the future prospects for the Charity Sector.

The conference gives you access to more than 30 professional firms in the exhibition area, providing a wealth of experience for you to draw on during the day and discuss current issues and organisational needs.

The structure of the programme also ensures there is ample time for networking and sharing experiences with your fellow professionals during the day, and at the drinks reception at the close of conference.

Stuart Etherington will examine the state of the sector in 2008, using the latest statistics from NCVO's Civil Society Almanac, and discuss future prospects for charities in what is likely to be a colder financial climate. Written notice of cancellations up to 21 days before an event will incur a 25% administration fee. After this time period, a 100% cancellation charge will apply. Substitutions (i.e. name changes) for the course booked can be made free of charge.

CFG reserves the right to cancel any event two weeks prior to the event date. You will be entitled to a full refund or given the opportunity to transfer to an alternative date. However we regret that we cannot refund any travel or accommodation costs incurred by delegates.
