How will you survive the current economic downturn?

The credit crunch, high levels of inflation, a significant balance of payments deficit and the increasing demand that every charity faces to expand its services – all of these are putting a squeeze on charity finances.

How should we as finance professionals respond? Is it time to batten down the hatches – or to scan the horizon for new opportunities? To some degree the answers lie within your charity’s relationship to risk and risk management.

This conference will look at risk management in the face of this difficult economic climate starting with a look at the causes and implications of the current position. We will also cover a number of related areas, for example rising costs in government contracts and the need for income diversification.

In this climate it will be important to protect your reputation and brand. We will look at techniques for managing reputational risk in this environment along with some growing areas of concern; for example ethical dilemmas and IT fraud.

A regular issue in the CFDG/PKF annual risk survey is the extent to which risk management is embedded in an organisation. We will consider the appetite for risk within the sector and the implications for charities that flow from it.

The formal part of the day ends with a look at the implications of climate change for charities. Whilst we will all either have directly experienced or seen through the media the dramatic effects of climate change, what impact does climate change have on the work we do, and how should we respond at a strategic, tactical and operational level?

Join us for a day that focuses on how active risk management can have a positive effect on your charity in challenging times.

Written notice of cancellations up to 21 days before an event will incur a 25% administration fee. After this time period, a 100% cancellation charge will apply. Substitutions (i.e. name changes) for the course booked can be made free of charge.
