From today, small charities are invited to apply for a bursary that will bring them all the benefits of Charity Finance Group membership, for free.
The new Small Charities Membership Bursary (SCMB) could see dozens of smaller charities that have been impacted by the pandemic in the past year join the CFG community.
CFG’s CEO Caron Bradshaw, says: “We all know what an incredibly difficult year it has been for those who work tirelessly in organisations that deliver public benefit. This pandemic has hit smaller charities and community groups particularly hard, with many struggling to survive at a time when they have been never more needed.
“We want to help and inspire as many of those charities as we possibly can, and so we’re delighted to launch this new bursary scheme today. Whether they are former CFG members or not, those who successfully apply will discover many benefits of being part of our community. We look forward to welcoming them!”
The new bursary has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the Garfield Weston Foundation. By securing £30k, CFG can provide full membership bursaries for nearly 200 charities.
To apply for one year’s free membership, charities must be based in the UK, have an annual income of £1m or less, and be able to demonstrate the impact of the pandemic on their organisation. Community groups constituted for public benefit are also invited to apply. Former members are invited to apply, as are those charities new to CFG.
Jitesh Mistry, Head of Membership at CFG, comments: “As we entered our membership renewal period in March 2020, we spoke to dozens of smaller charities that were struggling financially. We’re therefore delighted that we can now offer those organisations, and others who are new to us, a one-year membership to qualifying charities who are struggling during these unprecedented times.
“With all the uncertainty that lies ahead, our membership provides access to a wide range of events and policy briefings, sector insights and professional development opportunities. By joining the CFG community, charity finance professionals can also expect to meet likeminded professionals, share experiences, raise their charity’s profile and expand their networks.
“We hope that charities from across the UK will take advantage of the membership bursary and I encourage them to apply early.”
To apply, please complete the online application form. Find out more about the Small Charities Membership Bursary, and to ask any questions, please email the CFG membership team.
With sincere thanks to Garfield Weston Foundation for making the Small Charities Membership Bursary possible.
