Let's tell the new PM what it's like for the VCSE sector

The next wave of the VCSE Barometer survey is now out. Have your say about the state of the sector and let's continue to influence policy-makers together.

The VCSE Barometer is a quarterly survey that captures the pressures, priorities and changes facing voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations. It turns organisations’ real-world experiences into timely evidence for the sector, funders and decision-makers.

VCSE organisations are balancing funding pressure, rising demand, inflation, energy costs and workforce challenges. Wave 15 is about making sure the evidence we produce helps with the decisions behind all of that.

In the last wave of the Barometer, organisations revealed:

  • Around 4 in 5 organisations named income and funding as a top concern.
  • More than 2 in 5 cited non-energy cost inflation, while around 1 in 3 pointed to energy costs.
  • Volunteer recruitment has remained a recurring concern across waves, reaching 1 in 2 small organisations in Wave 14.
  • Data reports that monthly formal volunteering remains below pre-pandemic levels.

As political leadership and national priorities evolve, we are working with sector leaders to get evidence into the conversations that shape what comes next.

Your response helps the researchers at Nottingham Business School's VCSE Observatory to feed in the reality on the ground. With a new Prime Minister on the way, now is the time to make sure the realities facing VCSE organisations are heard.

Have your say - complete the survey. Closes: Wednesday 5 August
