Updates from the Living Wage Foundation

In this session, we’ll examine the real Living Wage—how it differs from the government’s rate, its importance, and the state of low pay in the third sector. We’ll explore how charities are managing financial pressures while upholding fair pay, the strategies they use to address wage differentials, and initiatives like Living Hours and Living Pensions. We’ll also highlight how Living Wage funders are helping the sector make sustainable, values-driven choices.

Lianna Etkind, Partnerships & Campaigns Manager, Living Wage Foundation

16:05-16:50

Panel Discussion - Doing Good, Paying Fair: The Ethics and Economics of Charity Pay

This panel brings together lived experience, organisational insight, and funder perspectives to explore what low pay really means for charity staff — and what needs to change. We’ll consider the challenges charities face in paying the real Living Wage, and examine the role of finance leaders, funders, and boards in shaping fairer workplaces.
