The Risk Collaborative

Welcome to the Risk Collaborative - a non-profit initiative focused on collaboration, knowledge sharing, and advocacy among third sector partners to improve risk management practices. By bringing together charity trustees, executives, staff, and funders, we aim to create a more resilient and effective non-profit sector that can better manage uncertainty, respond to threats, and leverage opportunities.

Our mission

To equip charities and funders with the tools, knowledge, and networks necessary to make informed decisions about risk, ensuring they can operate efficiently and sustainably while maximising their impact.

Key focus areas

  • Knowledge sharing and research: A central hub for best practices, case studies, and risk management insights tailored to non-profits and funders.

  • Training and capacity building: Workshops, webinars, and advisory services designed to strengthen organisational resilience and governance.

  • Data and risk intelligence: Developing a shared and searchable Data Trust to enhance sector-wide risk analysis and decision-making.

  • Advocacy and policy development: Driving the conversation on trust-based philanthropy, simplified compliance, and equitable risk-sharing between funders and implementing partners.

How we intend to support charities

  • Create a think tank and resource hub - providing cutting-edge research, powerful and fit-for-purpose risk management tools, and access to an assurance network.
  • Provide training and events - hosting seminars, expert-led discussions, and peer learning opportunities.
  • Provide a helpline and advisory support - sharing on-demand guidance for risk-related challenges.
  • Form strategic partnerships - collaborating with funders and sector leaders to create systemic change.
