Investment training gets off to a flying start

CFG's investment training programme has got off to a flying start in 2022. Find out more about these in-person and online courses.

Run in partnership with Sarasin & Partners, the foundation and advanced investment training for trustees and charity leaders is more accessible than ever.

This year, the courses will be held online and in-person in venues across England. It is also free of charge to CFG members, with the course costs being generously sponsored by Sarasin & Partners.

Caron Bradshaw OBE, CEO of CFG, comments:

"Covid-19 has been both a blessing and a curse! We don't need to rehearse the downside, which has impacted the sector and those we serve significantly. But I am a huge optimist and seek to see the positives in all situations.

"One such upside from the pandemic has been the embracing of digital by our members and the opportunities it offers to expand accessibility to the charities we serve, wherever they are based. That is why, after two years of restrictions and uncertainty, we're delighted to see this excellent investment training course get going again in-person across England, as well as online.

"The course has proven invaluable to dozens of CFG members, giving them the skills they need to work fruitfully with their investment partners. We hope that many more charity leaders will benefit from the courses in 2022 and we're grateful to Sarasin & Partners for giving their time and expertise so generously."

John Handford OBE, Sarasin & Partners, adds:

“The appetite to get back to in-person events is encouraging and the opportunity to engage with charities once again around the UK is exciting. Not only can we help charity executives and trustees grow their understanding of investments, but we can all swap ideas and keep abreast of the charity sector together. We look forward to seeing a mixture of familiar and new faces on our travels.”

Aims of the course

  • Understand the fundamental drivers of investment returns
  • Assess the risk and performance characteristics of asset classes
  • Understand the construction of a multi-asset portfolio, future returns and income, and how this can be applied to your charity
  • Enable you to help design and enhance your charity’s Investment Policy Statement
