On this year’s Gift Aid Awareness Day (7 October), hundreds of charities will be taking to social media to urge donors to #TickTheBox. Held every year in October, the campaign gives charities the chance to share how vital gift aid is.
Each year, charities miss out on more than £560 million in unclaimed or wrongly claimed gift aid. To help reduce that amount, Charity Finance Group (CFG) launched Gift Aid Awareness Day in 2018. Since then, the #TickTheBox campaign has gone from strength-to-strength.
In a first for the campaign, the charity has collaborated with a group of charities to launch a short video that explains why ticking the box matters.
Emma Abbott, Communications Manager, CFG, comments:
“Gift aid can sometimes be a difficult concept to explain and understand, so on Gift Aid Awareness Day we want to demystify how it works, and share resources with charities so they can maximise every donation.
“We’re delighted that so many charities volunteered to collaborate in the making of our #TickTheBox video which is a first for the campaign. The film aims to simplify gift aid and explain why it’s more important than ever to tick the box.
“We thank them and all those taking part in this year’s Gift Aid Awareness Day campaign because, although the worst of the Covid crisis is now hopefully behind us, resources are still stretched and every penny counts.”
