Charity Investment Governance Principles video series

Following the launch of the Charity Investment Governance Principles (CIGP) in January 2025, specialist consultancy and investment experts, Broadstone, have produced a series of short explainer videos...

The videos set out what the principles are and how charities can make best use of them. In all episodes, Broadstone's Rachel Titchen is joined by the CIGP's project consultant Gail Cunningham.

The series begins with Episode 1 - Using the Principles (below). Rachel and Gail discuss how the principles can be used, and how charities of different sizes can apply them and when.

The full series

Episode 2 - Purpose of Investments, Rachel and Gail look at the first principle and focus on how charities use investments for the charity's purpose.

Episode 3 - Leadership moves on to the second principle of leadership, explaining how to adopt a delegation framework, and why, in some cases, it might be appropriate to create a sub-committee and/or seek the support of specialist providers.

Episode 4 - Integrity deals with reputational risk and how trustees can build confidence in decision-making.

Episode 5 - Decision-making, Risk and Control looks at the topic of seeking advice and Rachel and Gail talk about investment policies.

Episode 6 - Effectiveness, Gail and Rachel explore trustees' confidence in effective decision-making, and how the Board and wider charity team can work together to ensure everyone is able to provide the right oversight to meet the charity's purpose.

You can view all the videos in the CIGP series on Broadstone's website.
