Pensions update: Verity Trustees v Wood ruling

A ruling from a major court case heard in February 2025 could impact employers that participate in TPT schemes. Keep up-to-date and watch LCP's on-demand webinar to learn more about the Verity case.

Several years ago, The Pensions Trust (TPT) wrote to employers in many of their schemes to confirm that they had identified some areas of uncertainty relating to the way that certain changes had been implemented in the past.

They had been advised that the position was sufficiently unclear that they should apply to the Court in order to obtain clarity as to the position.

The case was finally heard in February 2025 and it was originally expected that the ruling would have been available later in 2025. However, the ruling is now expected later this quarter. It has the potential to have a material impact on employers that participate in TPT schemes.

Pensions consultancy LCP held a webinar in 2025 to provide employers with more background on the court case and its potential implications. You can view this on-demand here.

LCP will be hosting a follow-up webinar once the ruling has been published. Please email Stefan Stoleriu if you would like to receive further information about this and future webinars and to stay in touch.
