As the charity sector celebrates Trustees' Week from Monday 3 November – Friday 7 November, CFG is thanking our own trustees for all their efforts, as well as the nearly one million trustees across the UK who volunteer their time and expertise to help charities.

At CFG, we're fortunate to be governed by an incredibly passionate, devoted and talented Board of Trustees who have all contributed greatly to CFG's mission to empower our members and the wider sector to grow their impact through financial excellence.
"Our trustees bring an exceptional breadth of knowledge and experience to CFG," sayd co-CEO Sarah Lomax. "They understand the challenges facing charities because many of them work in the sector themselves. Their strategic guidance and unwavering support have been instrumental in helping us develop services and resources that truly meet the needs of our members."
Co-CEO Clare Mills adds: "We're deeply grateful for the time, expertise and commitment our trustees give so generously. They challenge us, support us and help ensure that every decision we make is aligned with our charitable purpose of enabling charities to deliver more impact. Their dedication to financial excellence in the sector is genuinely inspiring."
CFG's Board consists of nine trustees who collectively bring expertise in finance, charity management, governance and strategic leadership. We usually have ten trustees, and we’re looking to co-opt someone to fill the final seat around the board table soon. Meeting four times a year, they oversee the organisation's strategic direction, approve annual budgets and accounts, and ensure CFG operates effectively as a membership body for charities.
Most of our trustees are CFG members elected by fellow members, ensuring the Board remains closely connected to the sector it serves. The Board may also appoint up to three non-member trustees to bring additional skills and diversity of perspective.
As well as being part of the board, trustees serve on specialist committees: the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, the Remuneration Committee and Nominations Committee, dedicating significant time to ensuring robust governance and oversight. They also share their time and expertise in other ways, such as supporting senior level recruitment and reviewing policies.
Throughout the year, CFG's trustees have been actively involved in supporting our work, attending or chairing CFG’s events, including our annual conference, and representing CFG at sector gatherings, as well as expert input on new initiatives and guidance.
As we mark Trustees' Week, CFG celebrates not only our own trustees but all those volunteers who give their time and expertise to govern charities across the UK. Their collective contribution helps ensure the charity sector can continue to make a vital difference to communities and causes nationwide.
