Join us! CFG's Peer Mentoring Scheme 2023 starts soon

Supporting members on their leadership journey is at the heart of CFG's work. CFG's Zoe Bennett shares an update on this year's Peer Mentoring Scheme and our finance leaders network. There's still time to get involved!

Autumn is that time in the year that the Membership Team always looks forward to. There's always so much going on, with plenty of opportunities for us to connect with you, our members, after the summer break.

We continue to be inspired by our members’ stories, the incredible work you are doing for your beneficiaries, and how you and your organisations are adapting and innovating.

Looking ahead, we are excited to meet many of you at the next Peer Mentoring Scheme in November! It's always one of the main highlights in our calendar and we're delighted to announce that Eve Trotman has joined the team to help deliver the programme.

Eve is a passionate advocate for putting mental health and wellbeing at the heart of leadership and management and recently qualified as a Mental Health First Aider (you can hear more about this on our latest podcast!).

Talking about her next step at CFG, Eve said:

"I am incredibly excited to be running the Peer Mentoring Scheme alongside the wonderful Zoe and the inspirational Nicki Deeson! I was lucky enough to attend a few of these sessions when I first joined CFG over a year ago, and I still remember them so clearly, which is why I asked if I could take part in running this scheme when the opportunity arose.

"The personal skills explored within the scheme are invaluable for the fast-paced world we live in today, not just for furthering your own professional development, but also to be applied to any interaction you may have with another person.

"At its core, mentoring is about being present. It's about carving out time in which you can fully engage with someone else by using those active listening skills.

"We hope that the mentoring scheme can be an enriching experience through which you can learn a great deal about yourself, as well as the other people you will be working with."

As Eve says, our Peer Mentoring Scheme is a great opportunity to practice and develop essential mentoring skills that help us be better leaders and managers with other finance professionals in the sector. And as a fully virtual training course you can join us from wherever you’re based – there’s still time to book your free place! See below for more details!

Connecting finance leaders

Our peer group of finance leaders continues to grow, with the online discussions a valuable resource of conversation and sharing between finance professionals.

The group will meet in December for a session on investment and the opportunity to pose questions to a specialist speaker. It has been a pleasure building this group with chair Jon King. If you would like to find out more about joining the group, please email me for more details.

And please keep a look out for news on our upcoming special interest group webinars and events. Remember that tailored support and advice is just a call or email away! Our helplines, hosted by our corporate partners, are there for you and your colleagues to use free consultancy on a range of topics.

And finally, a reminder that there are many ways you can reach out and find out how to get more involved and make the most of your benefits, or let us know what we can do better:

Drop us an email or call the team on 020 8078 8471. We look forward to supporting you and your teams in the run-up to 2024 and beyond!
