CFG’s 2026 SORP clinics: helping charities to navigate the changes

Are you ready for the new SORP? CFG is hosting a series of online, interactive learning sessions, led by CFG’s expert corporate partners, designed to provide focused, practical insights into key changes. Each session brings together small groups of up to 35 participants, creating an environment for open discussion and peer learning.

The 2026 Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP), which was published on 31 October 2025 and came into effect on 1 January 2026, sets out requirements and recommendations on financial accounting and reporting for charitable organisations. The SORP will now apply to all accounting periods starting from 1 January 2026 this year, and sets out a range of new requirements for charities to follow.

The most significant change to the SORP involved the introduction of tiering, with different requirements in the new SORP corresponding to the different income levels of charities.

At the end of 2025, following the publication of the new SORP, CFG launched a series of free webinars covering the key changes including on the Trustees’ Annual Report, income recognition and lease accounting. These sessions garnered huge attention, with nearly 3200 bookings across the eight events.

During the sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with experts, explore specific SORP topics in-depth, and ask questions relevant to their organisation’s needs, ensuring a rich learning experience tailored to real world challenges.

In 2026, CFG will also continue to work with key stakeholders to launch a suite of learning resources, including guides and information packs.

If you would like to partner with CFG to develop training or have planned activities, we’d love to hear from you. Please email our Policy Team to express your interest or share your own activities.
