CFG is delighted to announce that three new trustees have joined its Board of Trustees: Sue Pemberton, David McHattie, and Jenny Howard.
Sue retired in January 2023 after a distinguished 37-year career in Corporate Pensions and Benefits, most recently as a Director at Isio. With a strong focus on advising charities throughout her career, Sue brings invaluable expertise and a deep understanding of the sector's unique challenges.
"Throughout my career, my personal experiences made me realise how critical the charitable sector is to our society," says Sue. " I was privileged to work with some amazing charities in my working career, developing strategies with them that recognise the importance of their people in delivering critical services with balancing tight budgets.”
“Being appointed as a trustee to an organisation that assists this so comprehensively is an enormous privilege and I am looking forward to working alongside the incredible team and supporting wherever I can."
David McHattie retired in September 2020 from Barclays London Corporate Banking, where he served as Head of Charities for seven years. This role provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the financial challenges facing charities and the crucial support offered by CFG.
"Having worked closely with CFG in my role as Head of Charities at Barclays, I know how valuable their work is, supporting the sector," says David. "When I saw the Trustee role advertised, I was excited at the prospect of using my commercial finance experience to contribute to the sector once again."
“I am looking forward to working with the CFG Team and the other Trustees to help CFG deliver ever more impact for the charity sector over coming years.”
Jenny Howard brings a wealth of experience in the charity finance sector, having served as Finance Director at London Wildlife Trust, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, and currently as Director of Finance and Digital at the Marine Society and Sea Cadets. A long-standing CFG member for nearly 30 years, Jenny has personally benefited from the organisation's training and support.
"I am delighted to join CFG," says Jenny. "I have gained enormously from the training and support offered by CFG throughout that time. I hope I can use my experience to help CFG navigate the charitable sector through the financial challenges to come."
Hugh Wallace, CFG's newly appointed Chair of the Board of Trustees, CFG, comments: "We are thrilled to welcome Sue, David, and Jenny to the CFG Board. They bring a wealth of experience and expertise from both the charity and commercial sectors, which will be invaluable as we continue to support and empower charity finance professionals."
“These appointments come at a critical time for CFG as we navigate the evolving needs of the charity sector still dealing with the effects of the cost of living crisis. We are confident that Sue, David, and Jenny will be invaluable assets to the Board and will play a significant role in guiding CFG's future success.”
