Charity Finance Group (CFG), the UK's leading membership organisation for charity finance and operations professionals, has partnered with legal and risk expert Sabrina Segal, founder of The Risk Collaborative.

The partnership will bring together risk experts, civil society leaders, trustees and funders. CFG will work with The Risk Collaborative to further a shared vision of transforming risk management in the third sector.

The partnership will develop a range of tools and services that will provide practical support and enhance decision-making within non-profit organisations.

Nigel Kippax, charity leader, mentor and advisor, joins as an associate of CFG to strengthen the organisation’s consultancy offering.

Caron Bradshaw OBE, CEO of CFG, comments:

“CFG is delighted to be partnering with Sabrina and Nigel to support The Risk Collaborative and CFG’s consultancy work. We’re bringing together a wealth of experience and knowledge from the field of risk management that will benefit non-profit leaders, trustees and funders.

“For more than a decade, CFG has been working on evolving the way we manage risk in the sector and for the past two years Nigel has been supporting this work. Together, we recently developed a new management framework called RiskPlus. Nigel’s consulting experience at board-level perfectly complements our ongoing work in this area.

“By pooling our resources and knowledge, we have a unique opportunity to grow a network of experts and practitioners, and help organisations to manage risk more dynamically.”

Sabrina Segal, Founder of The Risk Collaborative, comments:

“I’m excited to be working in partnership with CFG whose support is vital to the success of The Risk Collaborative and the tools and methodologies we’re developing.

“The Risk Collaborative is empowering charity trustees, senior managers and funders by supporting them to better anticipate threats, seize opportunities, and share risk equitably.

“Charities and social change organisations are operating in uncertain and volatile environments. By exploring and sharing new approaches to risk management, we can strengthen our resilience, maintain high levels of public trust, and increase our sector’s impact.”

Nigel Kippax, CFG associate, comments:

“I’ve worked alongside CFG for many years and collaborated on various leadership development programmes. Most recently, we’ve developed our RiskPlus framework to support better decision-making and risk management within charities.

"By sharing that approach and working alongside The Risk Collaborative, we’ll be able to support more charity leaders, trustees and funders with their decision-making.”

The Risk Collaborative is an open peer-to-peer network for non-profit leaders, senior managers, trustees, and funders looking to:

  • learn more about effective risk management, specifically in third sector operating environments
  • access the Assurance Network of screened local and international experts
  • obtain insights, research and real-time data to enhance decision-making

Joining The Risk Collaborative (www.TheRiskCollaborative.org) is easy and anyone with an interest and/or practical experience in risk management in the charity and third sectors is welcome. Email Sabrina Segal to find out more.

About CFG

CFG is the charity and membership organisation that supports other charitable organisations to make the biggest difference possible. We do this by helping them to make their money and resources go further, by putting financial leadership at the heart of their decision-making. Since CFG was founded in 1987, we have evolved to welcome all finance professionals working for charitable and social change organisations. We also welcome non-finance professionals who recognise that we deliver greater impact when we are financially confident, trustworthy and dynamic. Today, CFG’s vibrant community manages around one third of the UK’s entire charity sector income. We are a diverse and inclusive community of people who are passionate about delivering impact through financial leadership. Together, we lead the way for charity finance.

About The Risk Collaborative

The Risk Collaborative is a pioneering non-profit initiative dedicated to transforming risk management in the third sector. We empower charities, non-profits, and social enterprises to navigate uncertainty and harness opportunity as a catalyst for innovation and sustainable impact. Our work empowers charity trustees, senior managers, and funders to anticipate threats, seize opportunities, and share risk equitably – strengthening organisational resilience and increasing public trust in civil society. Through our four flagship programmes: Objective-Centered Risk Management (OCRM), the 3P Framework; the Risk Data Hub; and our Assurance Network we are rethinking, redesigning, and rebalancing the power in the third sector through the lens of risk. By connecting funders, charity leaders, and local experts, we facilitate dynamic discussions on risk sharing and promote solutions as diverse and nuances as the communities they serve.
